ArmadilloCon 2023 Editor Guest Richard \u201cRick\u201d Klaw brings his extensive knowledge and experience to Tachyon Publications<\/a> as their Publicity Manager. Additionally, he edits many of their books by Texas authors including Joe R. Lansdale, Bruce Sterling, and Josh Rountree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His direct association with Tachyon began in 2013 when shortly after the publication of the anthology The Apes of Wrath<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>Klaw joined the press to manage and enhance their middling social media presence. In the ensuing decade, his role has expanded to not only overseeing all promotion, but the editing of five Joe R. Lansdale Hap and Leonard books, Bruce Sterling\u2019s Pirate Utopia<\/em><\/a> and Robot Artists and Black Swans: The Italian Fantascienza Stories<\/a> <\/em>plus the forthcoming Things Get Ugly: The Best Crime Stories of Joe R. Lansdale<\/em><\/a> and Josh Rountree\u2019s first novel, The Legend of Charlie Fish<\/em><\/a>. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klaw edited The Legend of Charlie Fish<\/em><\/a>, coming soon from Tachyon Publications. Josh Rountree\u2019s strikingly original debut novel ranges effortlessly between the Gothic, pulp, literary, Western, and comedic. “This weird western should win Rountree plenty of fans,” per Publishers Weekly<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Beyond Tachyon, Klaw has edited numerous publications, including Rayguns Over Texas<\/em><\/a>, which featured mostly original sf\/f\/h tales from contemporary Texas genre writers such as Stina Leicht, Nicky Drayden, Christopher Brown, Mark Finn, Jessica Reisman, and Marshall Ryan Maresca, and the groundbreaking cult classic Weird Business<\/em><\/a>, which he co-edited with Lansdale. He also edited books by Michael Moorcock, Moebius, and Shannon Wheeler. Klaw served as the founding fiction editor for RevolutionSF. And in an odd twist, he edited the letters page for Michael Moorcock\u2019s Multiverse<\/a><\/em>, a twelve issue series from DC\/Helix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the 90s, Klaw served as managing editor for the independent comics publisher Blackbird Press<\/a>, and later co-founded Mojo Press<\/a>, which predicated several of the 21st century publishing models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a writer, he provided countless reviews, essays, and fiction for a variety of publications including The Austin Chronicle<\/em><\/a>, Blastr, Moving Pictures Magazine, <\/em>San Antonio Current,<\/em><\/a> Kirkus Reviews, Wired, SF Signal, Geek Dad, <\/em>SF Site<\/em><\/a>, SF Signal, <\/em>Electric Velocipede<\/em><\/a>, Steampunk, <\/em>and The San Antonio Business Journal<\/em>. Many of his essays were collected in Geek Confidential: Echoes from the 21st Century<\/em><\/a> <\/em>(MonkeyBrain).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klaw also has extensive experience as a bookseller (Bookstop, Adventures in Crime and Space, Book People, Half Price Books) and as a freelance marketing consultant (Humble Bundle, Underland Press, Doubleday, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
