Robert Taylor was one of the original people behind ArmadilloCon and FACT<\/a>. These days, he serves as FACT’s Vice President for Life, and as part of that, delivers programs to students to encourage the appreciation of reading and genre fiction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robert discovered fandom in El Paso in the early 1970s, after he moved there to work at a local TV station. He met Willie Siros<\/a> at Zothique, the local SF club. Robert and Willie attend\u00aded their first convention together, Westercon 27<\/a>, in Los Angeles in 1974. That year, Robert moved to Austin, TX, to work with the local ABC affiliate, KVUE, where he worked for many years. (Fun example here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robert chaired ArmadilloCon 8 (1986). He was an integral member of the bidcom for the Austin in ’85 NASFiC bid and vice-chair of the resulting LoneStarCon<\/a>. He also served on the board of the San Antonio in ’97 Worldcon bid and the LoneStarCon 2<\/a> concom, and has worked on many other conventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
