Christopher Brown will appear at ArmadilloCon! Christopher Brown is the Philip K. Dick, John W. Campbell and World Fantasy Award-nominated author of Tropic of Kansas, Rule of Capture, and Failed State. In 2020 he started a popular new weekly journal of dystopian nature writing, Field Notes. He lives in Austin, where he also practices law.
Don Webb will be appearing at ArmadilloCon! Don Webb has taught at UCLA since 2002. His latest book is Energy Magick of the Vampyre: Secret Techniques for Personal Power and Manifestation. He has been an A-con regular since 1989. Has had stories in Analog, Amazing, F&SF, Interzone, Weird Tales, Pulphouse, New Pathways and 40+ anthologies. Has print on demand anthologies of vampire stories (A Velvet of Vampyres), space opera (The War With the Belatrin), weird westerns (Webb’s Weird Wild West) and weird crime (Do the Weird Crime Serve the Weird Time). Sara “Tiara Queen” Felix will be appearing at ArmadilloCon! Sara Felix is a 2019, 2020 and 2021 Hugo Finalist in the Fan Art Category. She is a mixed-media artist working in inks and resins, whose art can be seen at various conventions throughout the country every year. She designed the 2016 Hugo base and co-designed the 2018 Hugo base with Vincent Villafranca. In 2018, she also designed the 2018 WSFS Young Adult Award. She is the president of AsfA (the Association of Sf and Fantasy Artists), which gives out the Chesley Award, one of the premier genre awards for artists. She has curated numerous art displays, including the Infinite Worlds gallery show in 2018 as well as art panels at conventions for several ASFA artists. She lives and works in Austin, Texas.
Joseph is also the creator, host, co-producer and writer of Prof. Griffin’s Midnight Shadow Show, Texas’ premiere television late-night horror host show. (1999-2007) as well as the official Horror Host for national cable channel, Fangoria TV.
As Professor Griffin, Fotinos hosted the live premiere of IFC’s American Nightmare with Tobe Hooper, has appeared on SPIKE TV and was blessed by Universal with the official title of Official Universal Monster Spokesperson (for Central Texas). Professor Griffin was featured prominently in the 2006 Horror Host documentary feature, American Scary.
Joseph lives in Austin Texas with his wife Brandy, has a 19 year old son, and has actually met and has corresponded with both the late, great Vincent Price and his writing inspiration Ray Bradbury.
Amber Royer will be appearing at ArmadilloCon! Amber Royer writes the Chocoversecomic telenovela-style-foodie-inspired space opera series. She is also the coauthor of There Are Herbs in My Chocolate, which combines culinary herbs and chocolate in over 60 sweet and savory recipes. She teaches creative writing in North Texas for both UT Arlington Continuing Education and Writing Workshops Dallas. If you are very nice to her, she might make you cupcakes.
Rob Rogers will be appearing at ArmadilloCon! Rob Rogers is the author of Devil’s Cape, a superhero thriller set in Louisiana. Devil’s Cape was a Pop Matters pick and a HeroPress Book of the Year. His short stories have appeared in the anthologies The Impossible Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Triumph Over Tragedy, and This Mutant Life. Rob lives in Texas, where he continues to write about superheroes, pirates, aliens, mad cultists, dragons, interdimensional rifts, carnival freaks, and cowboys, often in the same stories.
Rick Klaw will be appearing at ArmadilloCon! Rick Klaw is publicity manager, social media strategist, and consulting editor at Tachyon Publications. His many caps, in addition to his work at Tachyon, include pop culture historian, reviewer, and optimistic curmudgeon. He was the co-editor of the groundbreaking original anthology of short fiction in graphic form, Weird Business, co-founder of Mojo Press, and ran the award-winning blog, The Geek Curmudgeon. He has edited several successful Joe Lansdale books for Tachyon, and his anthologies include The Apes of Wrath and Rayguns Over Texas. Rick gave up on his first novel when he realized it had to be longer than 140 characters.
Dr. Al Jackson will be appearing at ArmadilloCon! Al Jackson studied physics at the Center for Relativity at The University of Texas at Austin. He has worked as an Aerospace Engineer at NASA, a Senior Engineer at McDonnel Douglas, a Senior Engineer at Computer Science Corporation, a Principal Engineer at Lockheed Martin, and as a Visiting Scientist at the Lunar and Planetary Institute.
Howard Waldrop is a science fiction author who works primarily in short fiction. Several of his stories have been nominated for awards. “The Ugly Chickens” won the 1980 Nebula Award for Best Novelette and the 1981 World Fantasy Award for Short Fiction. “The Dead Sea-Bottom Scrolls” (2013) was nominated for a Locus Award. “Night of the Cooters” was a finalist for both the Hugo Award and the Locus Award.
Howard has been a frequent attendee of ArmadilloCon. He was the Toastmaster at the first ArmadilloCon (1979), Guest of Honor at ArmadilloCon 5 (1979), and Toastmaster at ArmadilloCon 29 (2007). He has also been honored at other conventions, including the 1995 World Fantasy Convention, Readercon 15 (2003), and Loscon 46 (2019). He will be receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Fantasy Convention in 2021.
He is a member of the Turkey City Writer’s Workshop and has taught at the Clarion Workshop.
